Welcome to the Year 9 Options information page for courses starting in September 2023.The information contained will help you, alongside the people who know you best: your parents/carers, head of year and subject teachers, to make the best possible decisions about which subjects to study over the next two years.
This is an exciting, promising time for young men/women entering professional life. By choosing the right courses now, your child will equip themselves with the skills, knowledge and aptitudes required for the career or careers of their choice, even while their ideas about this are evolving. All of our staff are available to offer guidance and support in making these important decisions. All the courses require determination, dedication and enthusiasm.
KS4 is NOT about collecting as many GCSEs or Btecs as you can, the quality of your qualification is far more important. Universities (if you are considering applying later) are more impressed with grades than the number of subjects taken. Employers are more impressed with how relevant and useful your subjects are, rather than how many you have!
Everyone knows that qualifications are not the only things needed for success in life – common sense, reliability, a willingness to learn, team spirit, communication skills, leadership qualities, time management, personal organisation and initiative are also key to your success. Remember that although this process is important, it is not the end of your learning and there are many different roads to achieve the success that you deserve.
