Intouniversity

What is Intouniversity and How Does it Support Our Students?

Intouniversity is a well established initiative to support young people achieve their full potential, especially those who do not see higher education and a stable career as something that they can aspire to. The programme at CoLA Highgate Hill works with a group of 30 students, starting in Year 7 and grows with them as they move through the school and face new challenges. The facilitators get to build strong relationships with the students and this helps each student to grow in confidence and push themselves and raise their aspirations.

Through the programme at CoLA Highgate Hill, students start in Year 7 by finding out who they are, where their strengths and passions lie. This is followed in Year 8 by looking at the range of different pathways available to them following their GCSE exams. In Years 9 & 10, students look at transferrable skills and how they will help them with their future careers, whilst exploring what it might be like to go to university. In Year 10 students will also receive leadership training and look further at the options available to them post 16. Finally, in Year 11, students look at communication skills linked to the workplace and also higher and further education options.

We currently have student Intouniversity groups in all years 7-11, but with the introduction of our new 6th Form, we are now looking to take the Intouniversity programme into Years 12 & 13 as well.
